Support An Author -- Liking and Tagging books on Amazon

It's possible to show support to authors without buying their books. So, if you're short on cash and can't afford to buy a copy right away, here are a couple of things you can do to help:

1) Go to the books page on Amazon and 'like' the book. (And also the author's Author Central Amazon page, since they allow the 'like' feature there as well.)

2) Scroll down on the books page on Amazon and add 'tags' to the book (be sure to put in the author's name and the press if you know it).

3) Share links to where the book can be purchased on Facebook and/or Twitter.

4) If you have a blog, offer to let the author do a 'guest post' or interview them for your blog, even if it's an unrelated genre or subject.

Liking and tagging the book on Amazon gets the book more attention and increases the chance of sales; it'll actually raise the book closer to the best seller list even if a book isn't purchased.

Tagging (which is actually putting in search words -- if someone searches for a word you've tagged a book with, it'll put that book on the list of search results) helps a lot, especially if you think up original ones. The more search lists the book can be found on, the more chances of someone finding the book and buying it.

These are things that you can do to help the author that cost you nothing but a little bit of time!

If you should buy a copy and read the book, here are a couple additional things you can do to help:

1) Rate the book on GoodReads, Amazon, and/or Barnes & Noble.

2) Leave a detailed review of what you liked and/or disliked about the book. If someone comes by to check out the book what you said about it COULD help them make their mind up about a sale. Saying, "The book was great!" is nice, but it doesn't really help someone know if the book is one they would like.

3) Also post a review on a blog if you can, and/or share that you enjoyed the book on Facebook and/or Twitter!

All of these things will show the author you support them and want to help them be a success.

If you have an Amazon account, and would like to help support me and my writing, I would appreciate it if you would take the time to 'like' and 'tag' my book! I hope that this post has helped you to understand why I've been asking for you to do so.

    Great post, Rebecca!

I've bookmarked this to share on my site as soon as my re-design is finished.

P.S. I wish listed Undead Drive-Thru and Dark Dreams: Tales of Terror; there's only one copy of each left. Do you think there will be more available in March? (I've already spent my February book allowance LOL.)

    Leah,

Amazon seems to do pretty good about restocking... I know they've done it a couple times for Undead Drive-Thru. I'm not sure about Dark Dreams. They'll most than likely be able to get you copies in a timely manner when you do order.

Thank you for your interest in my writing.
